Why use Wood Pellets to Heat Your House?

Wood Pellets are an energy-efficient way to keep your home heated during the frigid New England winters. For most modest New England homes, a properly sized pellet stove will be able to heat most, if not all, living space in the house.

Energy.gov gives the following recommendations for heating average size houses:

A good rule-of-thumb is that a stove rated at 60,000 British Thermal Units (Btu) can heat a 2,000-square-foot home, while a stove rated at 42,000 Btu can heat a 1,300-square-foot space.
-Energy.gov

Wood pellet heating can be an efficient option for many New England homes, especially when paired with proper zoning or multiple smaller stoves. For homeowners concerned about rising oil and gas costs, pellet heat offers an alternative way to help manage seasonal heating expenses without the need for extensive ductwork in many cases.

While switching heating methods can involve upfront costs, many homeowners find that wood pellet heat can provide long-term value over time. It is always a good idea to check Mass Save for available rebates, energy efficiency tips, and home energy audit options before making a change.

At Koopman Lumber, we carry Lignetics wood pellets, a trusted choice among many of our customers. Lignetics pellets are known for reliable performance, consistent heat, and a clean burn, making them a popular option for customers who depend on pellet heat through the colder months.

Koopman can also help make stocking up easier. We offer wood pellets by the bag or pallet, with delivery options available for larger orders. Whether you need a full pallet, multiple tons, or a smaller quantity to get through the season, our team is happy to help you find the right option for your home.
