Sell Your House Faster by Staging with Color

They say that staged houses sell quicker and for higher prices than those that aren’t, and the experts at Koopman agree! Going the extra mile to stage a home for sale is an excellent way to encourage the home sale process, but one thing people don’t always think about is paint.

Ben Moore has some great tips on how to use color to stage your house from the latest color trends. By using the correct color, you can bring out the beauty of a room that you might not even have known was there.

Neutralize

When a prospective homebuyer walks into your house, what’s the first thing you want them to notice? The layout of the room maybe, or the furniture and decoratives that have been placed ever so carefully. Whatever your answer was it probably wasn’t “The paint.”

Neutral colors are an excellent way to draw attention to the right place. Either giving your accents a place to pop (a well-placed plant or picture on the wall, some bright furniture) or simply give the prospective buyer a blank canvas to work with as they imagine themselves in the house.

Update and Refresh

Chances are there is some surface in your house with worn, outdated colors or even a distracting wallpaper that needs a bit of a reboot. Out with the old and in with the new! A subtle low sheen paint can help to mask any imperfections on your walls and ceilings, as well as adding trim to accentuate architectural details that make your house stand out.

Maximize your Space

There’s a reason that whites and beiges are in vogue right now. A light neutral color gives the impression of spaciousness and cleanliness that (when combined with an organized space) is inviting and open. Think about a room in your house, or a house you have found yourself in recently with dull or dark colors. Did the room feel a bit bleak, cramped, or gloomy in any way? Now compare that to a place you’ve been in with a light neutral color. The difference is as clear as day when you compare them!

Refresh Outside Spaces

Think of the first place a person sees. It won’t be the living room, or entryway, or kitchen, but the outside. Bring that splash of new color outside with you to your doors, fencing, mailbox posts and anything else! If you’ve got a deck, make sure it’s either freshly painted or stained along with the rest of the house!

With outside, you have options upon options, but make sure you make a good impression.x
