Bluelinx is a building supplies distributing company based out of Atlanta, Georgia that specializes in plywood, lumber, strand board, and other wood products used for structural support. Cerberus Capital Management purchased assets of Georgia-Pacific’s distribution division in 2004, forming Bluelinx. Georgia-Pacific had begun in 1954 storing and distributing their plywood. Over the next 5o years, they rapidly grew, offering a wide range of products. Bluelinx has now taken over their distribution and now offers many revolutionary products. They strive to make a difference for their customers and be the reason their customers have a great experience on their job sites including a few new products that we are very excited about!
Extremegreen Board
Bluelinx’s new Extremegreen board is an extremely versatile construction board. It is made with magnesium-oxide and reinforced with fiberglass mesh for added structural integrity. The uses of this board are endless!
For those jobs in the bathroom and kitchen, use it as a tile backer. The Extremegreen board can also be used as exterior sheathing, as well as a structural subfloor or even as heavy-duty drywall. It comes in many different lengths and thicknesses, including 1/2 inch, 1/4 inch, 3/4 inch, 5/8 inch, 4×8, and 4×10.
The main benefit of this board how structurally sound it is, as well as being fire-resistant. For most jobs, two different materials are needed: one as a sheer layer to hold weight, and another as a fire-resistant layer for safety. The Extremegreen board eliminates the need for two different boards and consolidates the job into one solid material. With a Class 1A fire rating, the Bluelinx Extremegreen board keeps flames out and provides the safety level you need to get the job done. Not only does it protect against fire, but also against water, moisture, mildew, and wood-eating insects! It is incredibly strong, with each of the smaller blocks being able to hold 300 lbs of force. The Extremegreen board can be used almost anywhere you’d use plywood due to its resistance of the elements and strength.
