Koopman Lumber recognized as
2023 ‘Dealer of the Year’ by LBM Journal!
At Koopman Lumber, we have worked hard since 1939 to build a fantastic network of lumber, hardware and paint stores in New England. This year, our commitment to our customers and our community was recognized by the Lumber and Building Material Journal (LBM), which named us the 2023 “Dealer of the Year” in the $100 million+ annual sales category.
"Dealer of the Year" - A Pretty Big Deal!
This award from LBM Journal recognizes four lumber/building material companies of different sizes that epitomize the entrepreneurial spirit. The designation celebrates companies with leadership that excels at identifying undeserved or emerging markets, satisfying customers and constantly working to grow and improve business while demonstrating a fierce commitment to finding ever-better ways to serve their customers and their communities.
We were recognized alongside Walker Lumber in Nashville, Tennessee, which has $50 to $100 million in annual sales; Henry Pool Lumber in Lafayette, Indiana, which has $10 to $50 million in annual sales; and San Antonio Lumber Co. in San Antonio, Florida, which has under $10 million in annual sales. As part of this recognition, our company was the subject of a profile in the LBM Journal that illustrated our values and growth as a company.

Tony Brookhouse, COO
Dirk Koopman, CEO of Koopman Lumber, expressed appreciation for the “Dealer of the Year” award, stating, “We strive to be the best partner possible in all our relationships, including those with our customers, our community, our suppliers and our team. “We still operate by the same community-minded values set by my grandfather, Peter T. Koopman, when he founded the company in 1939,” Koopman continued. “This includes donating 10 percent of all profits to organizations that serve the community.”
A Family Business you can Count on
The Family Business is now run by Peter’s grandchildren: Dirk Koopman, CEO; his sister, Denise Brookhouse, CFO; and her husband, Tony Brookhouse, COO.
“If you do business with our company, you are nearly always working with one of us directly,” Tony Brookhouse said. “As an independent lumberyard, we can respond in real-time to business challenges, giving us an agility that larger corporations can’t match.”
