The Blackstone River Greenway/Bikeway is an impressive 48-mile multi-use paved trail connecting Worcester, MA to Providence, RI. This beautiful path is perfect for getting more time outside, whether it’s for a leisurely ride or for commuters looking to skip the traffic.
It also offers people a unique historical experience by outlining the heart of the American Industrial Revolution. The project weaves together nature, history, and community to offer something meaningful for everyone who comes through.
Since 1986, the Blackstone Heritage Corridor has preserved and promoted the rich cultural and natural heritage of the Blackstone Valley, and the Greenway/Bikeway is another incredible example.

The Impact of Koopman Lumber’s $45,000 Donation

Dennis Rice, Board Chair of the Blackstone Heritage Corridor, expressed gratitude for this community support. “With the help of Koopman Lumber and others, we have made great strides toward completing the Greenway/Bikeway,” he said. “We encourage the community to join us in making this a reality by 2031.”

Koopman Lumber’s dedication to the Greenway/Bikeway is deeply personal. Recently, the fourth and fifth generations of the Koopman family enjoyed a ride on a newly opened section of the trail. Sarah Thomas, Director of Marketing and fourth-generation family member, rode alongside her children, Virginia and Welles, who represent the fifth generation.
Their family adventure highlights the trail’s lasting value, making outdoor spaces feel safe and enjoyable for generations.
